New Future Eczema Treatment with Second Skin on the Horizon.
Researchers at M.I.T. and Harvard have just published a study in the journal - Nature Materials -where they have created a second skin to be used for wrinkles, applying sunscreen and treating skin diseases such as eczema.
This second skin was created with chemicals approved by the FDA and out of the 170 individuals tested, none had an allergic reaction.
The chemicals used in this second skin are siloxanes – basically created with one atom from oxygen connected with two atoms of silicon.
The application is limitless and for treating eczema, the second skin would be infused with eczema creams and medications which would be less messy and more effective.
Stay tuned – we will report on follow-up studies and the likelihood that this second skin will be brought to market and used for individuals suffering from eczema.
